Getting ready to take over the national letter market
Since 2024 we have been on a meaningful journey with dao to help integrate and connect legacy IT systems and isolated customer touchpoints into one seamless digital experience.
In the first half of 2025 we launched dao’s new website (see separate case), and with the deadline of dao taking over the responsibilities of the letter market in Denmark fast approaching, we launched the new app by November 2025.
Hereby we are proud to have gone full circle in enabling all customers in Denmark to easily manage letters, packages, and magazine subscriptions across dao platforms.
A user-centric app experience
We wanted to build a fully user-centric app experience for both iOS and Android, bringing all services together in one place and making logistics easier for customers. We collaborated closely with dao’s product, logistics, and customer service teams to align business needs with user expectations. With agile delivery and weekly alignment across all stakeholders and external design partner Day21, we ensured transparency, speed, and a shared understanding of priorities all the way through launch.
The new app introduces a brand-new purchase flow and service hub where users can: track parcels, buy digital stamps, access receipts, choose between multiple payment options, explore guides and support, and get help from dao’s AI-powered chatbot. In short: more convenience, more clarity, all in one unified touchpoint.

One app to seamlessly manage everything
Overcoming legacy constraints
While we dramatically improved the customer interface, many internal legacy systems remained unchanged. This required smart strategies for tight integration with existing backend systems, presenting complex information clearly and handling customer enquiries efficiently - all without rdisrupting ongoing operations, redesigning internal apps or replacing core purchasing flows.
By building a flexible API layer and UI patterns that could adapt to system limitations, we ensured a stable, intuitive user experience despite technical constraints.

dao now has a unified customer app that supports its new national role in the Danish letter market.
Customers can manage everything - letters, parcels, and subscriptions - seamlessly from one place, increasing convenience and reducing friction.
The launch strengthens dao’s customer experience, supports operational efficiency, and creates a future-proof platform ready for further expansion.
