Challenges

You have a phone, and you have a headset. They need to be compatible with a cable. But which specific cable ensures that your headset and phone actually work together? For many years, this has been a challenge for Sennheiser resellers: making sure customers received the right cable for their headsets – and it still is. Previously, Sennheiser relied on a massive Excel sheet containing more than a million possible combinations of phones (both desktop and mobile), headsets, and cables. Every single headset and every single phone model was listed. Resellers had to look up the right combination whenever a customer needed to connect a phone and a headset. The result? The experience was slow and frustrating. The Excel sheet was overwhelming to navigate, time-consuming to use, and often led to incorrect orders. Not exactly a dream scenario.

Approach

Sennheiser wanted resellers to serve their customers faster and better. The goal was clear: transform the giant Excel sheet into a streamlined system that could instantly provide the right cable – and make sure it was easy to update and maintain.

Overcoming challenges

We often say our mission is to kill spreadsheets – and that’s exactly what we did for Sennheiser. We replaced the unmanageable Excel file with a clean, user-friendly system. It allows Sennheiser administrators to easily update and maintain product data, and gives resellers a quick way to find the right cable. Instead of working backwards from headset to phone to cable, the new system starts with the customer’s phone and immediately shows which headsets are compatible. And because an average of ten new phones are launched every day, the system is designed to handle daily updates – ensuring resellers always have the latest information at hand.

Results

The impact has been clear: fewer incorrect orders, faster service for customers, and a smoother process for resellers. Most importantly, end customers are happier – because they get the right solution, the first time.
