From giant Excel sheet to streamlined Reseller system
You have a phone and a headset — and you need the cable that makes them work together. Simple in theory, tricky in practice. For years, EPOS resellers struggled to identify the right cable for each customer. The process relied on a massive Excel sheet with more than a million possible combinations of phones, headsets, and cables. Every model had to be manually cross-checked, making the experience slow and frustrating. EPOS wanted to enable resellers to respond faster and more accurately, so the goal became clear: replace the unwieldy spreadsheet with a streamlined system that instantly delivers the correct cable and is effortless to update and maintain.
Approach
The Excel sheet was overwhelming to navigate, time-consuming to use, and often led to incorrect orders. Not exactly a dream scenario. We often say our mission is to kill spreadsheets – and that’s exactly what we did for EPOS. We replaced the unmanageable Excel file with a clean, user-friendly system. It allows EPOS administrators to easily update and maintain product data, and gives resellers a quick way to find the right cable. Instead of working backwards from headset to phone to cable, the new system starts with the customer’s phone and immediately shows which headsets are compatible.
Handling daily updates
Because an average of ten new phones are launched every day, the system is designed to handle daily updates – ensuring resellers always have the latest information at hand.
Impact
The impact has been clear: fewer incorrect orders, faster service for customers, and a smoother process for resellers. Most importantly, end customers are happier – because they get the right cable pairing, the first time.
