AI as part of the solution

Published

May 13, 2025

We could spend this time lecturing you, dear reader, about where AI is heading, whether it’s overhyped, or how it might reshape the way we work in the future.

And while there are valid answers in chasing all those questions, we won’t take up your time doing so now. Instead, we’ll show you how we’re using AI right now - where we see it making a difference for our clients, and how we stay sharp on what’s happening in the field.

Let’s start by stating our stance: at Abtion, we don’t see AI as a silver bullet, but we do see tremendous potential in applying it in the right places.

How We're using it

We've brought AI into play on a number of projects. One of note is our project with dao, where we developed a custom chatbot to ease the load on their customer support team. It now handles a large share of incoming questions, runs 24/7, and blends naturally into the customer experience. That’s time and energy freed up for the team to focus on everything else - and for customers to get quicker help.

In our collaboration with Det Danske Spejderkorps, we used AI to support activity planning for scout leaders. The goal was to make it easier to build coherent activity plans across a wide range of existing content - while staying true to the core of the scouting method, where children learn leadership through experience. AI helped bring structure, overview, and relevance to what was previously a dense and scattered pool of materials.

For Byggetilbud, we built a system that generates renovation offers for private customers. It was developed with an AI-first approach to explore how far we could go beyond using AI as just a support tool. We used platforms like Bold.new and Replit as starting points for the solution. They provided a strong foundation for building an AI agent that could collaborate closely with a real developer throughout the process.

These projects show what AI can do in practice and they’re helping us learn where the technology fits best.

Staying sharp

Right now, GenAI and related technologies feel limitless. And if you’re just scratching the surface, you might think that’s true - especially when your feed is full of things like Anders Fogh as a McDonald’s worker, or yet another round of AI-generated toy box selfies.

But under the noise, there’s real momentum, and it pays to stay informed. Here are some of the developments we’ve been paying attention to.

1. Conversational Shopping

In April 2025, ChatGPT introduced a new shopping assistant built around natural conversation. Instead of relying on keywords, users can now ask detailed questions like “I need a quiet vacuum cleaner for a small apartment with wooden floors” and get tailored product suggestions based on reviews and preferences - no login required. It’s a small but significant shift from search tools to conversation-driven experiences, and we’re paying close attention to how it evolves.

2. AI-first tools

We’re seeing a clear shift toward tools that are built around AI from the start, where AI isn’t just supporting the experience, but helping define it. These tools flip the question from “how can AI assist the user?” to “how much of the process can AI take care of?”

Our project with Byggetilbud is a good example of where we’ve implemented an AI-first approach. We used platforms like Replit as part of the development process to explore how AI can contribute actively alongside developers. It gave us a chance to test ideas in practice and better understand the role AI can play when it’s integrated from the beginning.

Part of the solution

When we say AI is part of the solution, we mean it literally. In the cases mentioned above, AI worked because it was paired with strategy, solid infrastructure, and thoughtful execution. That’s just as true in our AI-first projects, where AI may take the lead, but the real work lies in defining where and how it creates value. When the foundation is right, AI has room to thrive.

AI is a part of how we work at Abtion and we use it where it makes sense. We explore it where it doesn’t - yet. We’ll continue sharing our perspective as the technology moves forward - including through our newsletter, where we break down key developments and what they mean for the way we work. If you're looking for practical, distilled insight into how AI is actually being used, you’ll find it there - and in the work we do every day.
